Frequently asked questions

Requirements

  • Windows 10 version 1809 (October 2018 Update) or later, or Windows 11, 64-bit (x64). On ARM-based Windows 11 PCs it runs through Windows x64 emulation.
  • 4 GB RAM (8 GB recommended), about 200 MB of free disk space, and a screen of 1280 × 720 or higher.
  • Installed from the Microsoft Store. No administrator rights are needed.
  • Windows 7, 8 and 8.1, and 32-bit Windows, are not supported.
Additional
  • Everything else is built in: the app includes its own local web server and PHP 8. You don’t need to install WAMP, XAMPP or PHP, and nothing has to run on port 80.
  • Microsoft Edge WebView2 (part of Windows 11 and up-to-date Windows 10) and the Visual C++ runtime are installed with Windows or by the Store automatically.
  • Data sources: CSV, Excel (XLSX), PDF and JSON files; SQLite, MySQL/MariaDB and PostgreSQL databases; and any database with an ODBC driver installed on the PC, such as Microsoft SQL Server.
  • An internet connection is needed only to install the app and for AI features, online data sources and remote databases.
  • Your dashboards and files are saved in your Windows user profile (the app’s own folder in AppData). Uninstalling the app removes them, so back up anything you want to keep first.
  • A current browser such as Chrome, Edge or Firefox, for viewing exported dashboards.

Trial Version

The FREE trial never expires. It has fewer chart types and data sources than the paid plans, and a watermark on the output charts. Commercial use requires a paid license.

If you are an individual sharing dashboards with your customers or other parties, the Essential license works for you. If you run a small business and need up to 3 team members, we recommend Professional. Enterprise supports unlimited team members.

All Dashboard Builder users (free and paid) get support according to their plan, and everyone can use the community on GitHub.

No. The desktop version installs on Windows and does not need a local web server. If you prefer to run Dashboard Builder on a web server, see the self-hosted plans; to work in the browser, see the cloud plans.

No. The desktop version is for Windows only, and there is no mobile app in the app stores. On a Mac or mobile device, use the cloud edition in your browser.
